From IGN

Ghostbusters World is a mobile Augmented Reality (AR) game, like 2016 juggernaut Pokemon Go, in which players use smart devices to find and catch "specters, ghosts, and apparitions." The game is coming to Android and iOS this year, although a specific release date and price have not yet been revealed. More information will be announced at the Game Developers Conference next month.

In Ghostbusters World, players will be able to battle and capture hundreds of ghosts from "all dimensions of the franchise," including the films, TV shows, comic books, theme parks, and video games. There will also be new ghosts to capture created especially for the game.

NextAge is handling development as part of a collaboration between publishing partner FourThirtyThree Inc. (4:33), Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Ghost Corps. The game was revealed as part of Google's ARCore announcement, and a demo is on display at the Google Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain.

Commentary: I never really got into POKEMON GO, but there have been some cool announcements about other AR games coming out this year. HARRY POTTER and now GHOSTBUSTERS.  GHOSTBUSTERS was one of my favorite movies and cartoons as a kid, so I still pay a lot of attention when anything GHOSTBUSTERS comes out.  Hopefully, they can make a AR game that does justice to the franchise.  I don't know if I would actually have the time or inclination to put a lot of effort into GHOSTBUSTERS WORLD, but it could certainly be a fun diversion.
