Ghost Hunters Reaches Milestone 200th Episode

In case you didn’t know, fall is my favorite season. I like the cool fall weather. I like the smell of burning leaves, and the cheering crowds at the high school football game. I hate that every single thing has to be “pumpkin spice” flavored. I love wearing hooded sweaters and sitting in the driveway with my neighbors while we eat chili.

It stands to reason, then, that Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love everything about. I love seeing tiny babies in the oversized ladybug costumes, and passing out candy to little kids. I love jumping out of the bushes at the teenagers who are too lazy to dress up and expect candy. (Seriously, the next kid who wears jeans and a t-shirt and tells me he is dressed up “as a homicidal maniac. They look just like everybody else. Hur hur,” is getting sprayed with the garden hose. Wednesday Aadams said it first, so shut it.)

But I digress. Fall, for me, is like the playoffs for sports fans. The sense of excitement builds, starting on September 1^st and culminating on October 31^st, which is my version of the Super Bowl combined with the World Series.

So when our fearless editor-in-chief, handed me a copy of the 200^th episode of Ghost Hunters, I knew in my heart of hearts that Fall had finally arrived. My time had come. I was home.

Ghost Hunters premiered on October 6, 2004. Starting with an episode in Altoona, PA., the TAPS crew has been to houses and monuments, from battleships to battlegrounds. I’ve previously spoken of my love for GH, but the crew really outshone themselves for the 200^th episode.

For starters, JC and the crew go back to a location that had been found to have supernatural activity in the past. Secondly, the episode is 90 minutes long. Finally, and most importantly: GRANT. IS. BACK!

The crew travels back to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, where they had previously held an investigation. Since the TAPS crew’s last visit, the Asylum began renovations to preserve the space as a historical site. As a result, the residents of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum were disturbed again, necessitating a return visit by JC and company!

As usual, the Team of TAPS spends plenty of time gathering evidence, as well as refuting noises that sounded supernatural but weren’t. However, for me, the real stand-out portions of this particular episode were the conversations between the team members. Reminiscing over the last ten years of investigations, these conversations really showed that the team members were not just working together for business purposes, but these guys are actually friends and genuinely care about each other, which was nicely juxtaposed against the location they were investigating.

Thorough investigating takes place, along with attempts to debunk some noises that are heard. As I’ve said in the past, Ghost Hunters is cool, concise, and rational, and nothing has changed on that front. Grant, Steve, and Dave deliver a phenomenal show once again, and I, for one, cannot wait to watch the next 200 episodes.
