Welcome back to Critical Blast’s weekly look at what new comics you should check out each week.   Just a warning, I make these picks pretty much a week BEFORE I actually get to read any of these comics, so if something is a stinker, I take no blame on that.  Let's get to it!

Comics shipping this week

SPIDER-MAN #1 – Miles Morales is finally back in his new series. Same creative team as the old one, but now it takes place in the Marvel Prime universe. This is definitely the book I am most excited about for next week.

WE ARE ROBIN #8 - This looks like a real bad ass issue. Duke is hunting for his parents, and we see the rise of a new gang of Joker fans. I am a late comer to We Are Robin, but this has been a great series that really shows us a whole new angle of Gotham.

SCARLET WITCH #3 – I would have never thought I could be so engaged by a Scarlet Witch series. I usually like the character, but mostly in small doses. But James Robinson has really brought a fresh eye to Scarlet Witch, and this is always one of my favorite reads each month.

UNCANNY X-MEN #3 – The best of the X-books right now. This is a very fresh look at Marvel’s mutants. I was expecting this to feel like X-Force, but it’s been a little more than that. I knew Cullen Bunn would be a good writer for this, but even I am surprised by how good.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #2 – Kind of a strange first issue, but I still think this series was off to a pretty solid start. Curious to see where they will be going with this. Alpha Flight playing the protectors of “Deep Space 9” is a real unique idea and could lead to some great stories.

ACTION COMICS #49 – Picking up from last week’s Superman/Wonder Woman, Superman has decided to bury himself in kryptonite to try and kickstart his powers back. Will it work? Well, it would be a real abrupt end to this series if it didn’t, so my money is on yes.

BATMAN AND ROBIN ETERNAL #18 – Last issue showed us the cat and mouse game Batman and Mother played years ago. We find out that Bruce stuck closely to his morals the whole time, even if this series has teased otherwise. But, we still found out that his actions in trying to take down Mother led to someone getting turned into an orphan. We just don’t quite know who yet.
