Welcome back to Critical Blast’s weekly look at what new comics you should check out each week.   Just a warning, I make these picks pretty much a week BEFORE I actually get to read any of these comics, so if something is a stinker, I take no blame on that.  Let's get to it!

Comics shipping this week

To be honest, I am a few weeks behind on my comics reading, and I am on vacation this week, so I am not going to cover that many books in spotlight.

  • HARBINGER RENEGADE #0 – As much as I loved HARBINGER, the current series has been odd at times.  A few issue back, we get an entire issue devoted to a villain who hasn’t impacted the series yet.  This 0 issue seems to be a lead-in to HARBINGER WARS 2.  I will certainly check it out, as I love most Valiant books.
  • MOON KNIGHT #188 – I have liked Moon Knight pretty much since I started reading comics.  One of my first issues of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN featured Moon Knight.  The last few runs he’s gotten have produced some amazing comic books.  I would love to see more fans grab on to this character like I have.
  • SHE-HULK #159 – For the most part, I prefer the “SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK” type stories with She-Hulk, not just seeing her as a female Hulk clone.  I just think She-Hulk can be a much more unique character when allowed to do her own thing.  I am glad they have gone back to calling her book SHE-HULK, and I hope we get more traditional She-Hulk stories in this change.
  • BATMAN LOST #1 – Best part of METAL for me has been the spotlights on the various evil Batmen.  This time, Earth-1 Batman gets thrown into the Dark Multiverse.  Definitely sounds like a cool idea.
  • MISTER MIRACLE #4 – I heard someone say MISTER MIRACLE is DC’s best comic, and I’d have a hard time disagreeing with that. Tom King has a real skill for taking a character like Vision or Mister Miracle and finding ways to put a completely new spin on them.  I like this far more than I’ve liked his BATMAN.
