BBC America posted some surprising news this morning!  David Tennant is going to star as Scrooge McDuck in next year's DUCKTALES relaunch!

Here's the rest of cast announcements, which comes as the cast sings the theme song from the classic series:

Here’s the lineup: Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) will voice Louie, Ben Schwartz (House of Lies) will voice Dewey, Danny Pudi (Community) will voice Huey, Kate Micucci (Big Bang Theory) will voice Webby, Toks Olagundoye (Castle) will voice Mrs. Beakley, Beck Bennett (Saturday Night Live) will voice Launchpad McQuack, and, once again, David Tennant (Doctor Who) will voice Scrooge McDuck.

Commentary: Bless me bagpipes!  Scrooge McDuck is actually my favorite Disney character.  I still watch the old DUCKTALES series pretty often with my kids, and I have quite a few of the terrific collections Gemstone has put out of Scrooge and Donald Duck comics over the years.  Alan Young had been the voice of Scrooge since 1975 before his passing earlier this year.  I was real curious who would be doing the voice in the new DUCKTALES series.

David Tennant is a huge name, and gives me a lot of hype for the DUCKTALES relaunch!  I also loved Kate Micucci in SCRUBS and BIG BANG THEORY.
