Mr and Mrs Mazikeen Smith

The main characters take something of a back seat in this episode so that we can get a focus on Mazikeen (LESLEY-ANN BRANDT). Much has been made of the fact that demon's, like Mazikeen, don't have souls, so they live in the moment. That notion gets challenged here as Maze begins to get bored with her new bounty hunting career. It's too easy, and there's no challenge. At Lucifer's usual ill-advised urging, she decides to go after harder prey -- the most elusive of fugitives -- to really give herself a good workout.

She targets Ben Rivers (CHRIS MCKENNA), on the run in Canada after reportedly killing two teenagers in cold blood. Rivers apparently runs from one wealthy woman to another, utilizing a weapon that Maze isn't used to handling: charm.

After properly shocking Canada with her presence, Mazikeen soon traces Rivers to his last known location. There are some nice choreographed fights here, and Maze has him right where she wants him, when room service shows up--and shoots Ben Rivers. Someone has put a hit on her bounty. Rivers claims that it's Lt. Tomas Herrera (MARCO SANCHEZ), who gave Mazikeen the lead on finding Rivers. He also claims that Herrera framed him for that killing.

As Rivers and Mazikeen go on the run from the killers, with assistance from Detective Dan Espinoza (KEVIN ALEJANDRO), who diverts his Hawaiian vacation for winter in Canada at Chloe's request, Chloe (LAUREN GERMAN) and Lucifer (TOM ELLIS) follow up on Mazikeen's information that Herrera is a dirty cop. Lucifer is beside himself, however. While discussing with Dr. Linda (RACHAEL HARRIS) the possibility that Mazikeen is doing all this to give her life meaning, he sees her on a video call fluff the pillow for the wounded Rivers. Yes, the most talented torturer of all Hell just fluffed a man's pillow. "He broke my Maze!"

All's not well that ends well. Despite wrapping up the case, Rivers tells Maze that the men Herrera worked for will still come after him, and warns her that they know more about her than she thinks they do if she took up working for Herrera. And as an ominous bit of foreshadowing, we see a faceless man going through a file with Mazikeen's name on it. Whether or not this will be tied in with the Sinner Man plot or if it is a different subplot entirely, only time will tell.
