Lucifer 321 - Anything Pierce Can Do...

As the third season draws rapidly to a close, LUCIFER delivers an emotionally impacting episode with some true character changes for our stars as well as the reveal of a dark plot befitting a show about the Prince of Darkness.

At the close of last episode Lt. Pierce (TOM WELLING), whom the viewers also know to be the immortally cursed Cain, got Chloe (LAUREN GERMAN) to fall in love with him -- but stopped short of letting her say it. His deduction was that it was Chloe's love for Lucifer (TOM ELLIS), not her presence, that made Lucifer vulnerable and that if he could get it, it would do the same for him and allow him to die.

The plan worked, but perhaps not in the way that Cain thinks. Upon walking out on Chloe before she can verbalize her feelings, he finds his mark has been removed. But it could be that it was also removed because he had learned a lesson -- that he put the good of someone else before himself by abandoning his plan to make Chloe love him and then leave her alone with his death. Regardless, the first murderer can die now -- and now that he can, he doesn't want to. He can actually have a life with Chloe, grow old with her.

This puts a major crimp in the plans of Mazikeen (LESLEY-ANN BRANDT), who wants to return to Hell. But since Lucifer won't return her there, her plan is to help Cain become mortal, then kill him -- and pin the job on Lucifer, framing him and messing up his life on Earth so that he has to abandon it.

In a plan to eliminate Cain from the competition, Lucifer enlists the help of his brother, Amenadiel (DB WOODSIDE), who agrees readily as he believes it is his mission from his Father to see that Lucifer and Chloe get together. Amenadiel then enlists the assistance of Charlotte Richards (TRICIA HELFER), to use her legal skills to help prove that Pierce was also the Sinnerman, a notorious criminal mastermind. However, Charlotte is spiraling out of control now that she knows neither Lucifer nor Amenadiel can guarantee her entry to Heaven, and believes she is predestined for Hell. But perhaps working on God's mission might put her in His good graces -- so she turns her ruthlessness into a holy quest, with Amenadiel tagging along befuddled.

As Chloe and Lucifer investigate a case involving a murdered ballerina, Lucifer enters into competition with Pierce, as Pierce tries everything to win back Chloe's affections after hurting her. The gifts become a game of one-upmanship, and Lucifer has deep pockets. But ultimately, Lucifer doesn't give Chloe the one thing she really wants, which is nothing material -- and something Lucifer ultimately realizes was so simple while having a therapy discussion with Linda Martin (RACHAEL HARRIS). Unfortunately, Lucifer reaches his groundbreaking epiphany too late. You won't want to miss the question posed at the end of this episode -- and the answer given in response! Suffice it to say, if Mazikeen gets her plan into motion now, it will do a lot more than just frame Lucifer for murder -- it could damn him for eternity.
