DC Comics Covergirls a Thing of Beauty, Flaws and All

DC Comics Covergirls by Louise Simonson, cover by Adam Hughes

Being a comic book trivia geek, I love books featuring comic book trivia. Being blessed/cursed with a Y-chromosome and a heteronormative perspective, I also happen to love comic books that feature female artwork on the cover. Good girl, bad girl, it doesn't matter.

So how could I pass up the opportunity to review Louise Simonson's DC COMICS COVERGIRLS, a collection of some of the best of the best featuring DC Comics (or is it DC Entertainment these days?) heroines, villainesses, and supporting characters? The answer, of course, is that I couldn't, especially when it's as big as a coffee table and sporting a gorgeous Adam Hughes' cover.

DC's Trinity Preview Puts Batman's Arrogance on Full Display

A.V. Club's website released an 'exclusive' preview of the Rebirth edition of TRINITY and to put it simply: Rebirth Batman appears to be a giant, arrogant douchebag with no regard for subtlety.

Francis Manapul is flying solo on this title as writer, artist and colorist. Makes me wonder if he's doing it all from the comfort of his Bat-bed while wearing Bat-pajamas complete with cape and cowl. The setting is the Kent farm, with Lois Lane providing narration while Wonder Woman arrives discreetly in her invisible jet. Landing carefully, before emerging with a dead boar around her neck, Diana calls out to Batman looking for re-assurance that he's on his way.

PowerPuff Girls Issue 3: More Puff, Less Power

Powerpuff Girld #3 IDW

The city of Townsville! I must admit it has been some time sense I've last stepped foot in good Ole Townsville but if there is one thing I've remembered that still hasn't changed, it is that there is always trouble lurking in the dark parts of this peaceful city and the good old citizens of Townsville are always in the need of someone to save them. Danger is always on the rise and is as annoying as it can be, dealing with Jack Kirby influenced monsters, snotty little rich brats, a monkey bent on subjugating the world to him, and the evil Gender Bender or whatever he is.

Everything We Know About The MCU’s Spider-Man Villains

Michael Keaton -- a Spidey villain?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR was, as we put in our review, Marvel’s biggest blockbuster yet. But even with the bulk of the MCU’s character arsenal all on one screen again, Tom Holland stole the show as the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Holland had a great deal of fun with limited screen time, and the result is that rather than feeling fatigued with a third iteration of this character, fans are excited to see more.

"Power of the Daleks" to air on BBC America

Saw some exciting news from BBC America this morning!  If you are a Doctor Who fan, you know that many of the earliest episodes of the show from 1963 to 1970 were lost to history.  BBC had a policy of deleting their tapes (remember this was long before home VCR's or DVD players), and many of the older episodes only aired once.  Soundtracks and production stills of every episode exist but there are still 97 episodes missing.
