It's difficult to ignore sports. They're everywhere! As someone who spent my birthday in a sports bar with a guy yelling at the television above my head the entire meal, I can tell you sports are very overrated.

The guy in question was with his wife and another couple. He didn't pay any attention to his companions. I had to ask myself why a basketball game was so important that a man isolated himself from his friends. When you break it down it's just a bunch of guys who have the goal to throw a ball into a hoop, right?

Comicbook.com is reporting that Mr. Mxyzptlk will be appearing in the second half of this season's SUPERGIRL.

Once again The CW is introducing another one of Superman's classic villains to National City. In the comic books, Supergirl's gallery of villains was never really fleshed out very well. This is often referenced whenever she has a solo series; they often lack direction and a solid rogue's gallery.

Zach and Kevin fly to a new galaxy filled with bees. They boys can either make enemies or friends. 

Picking up where ARROW left off, "Invasion!" comes to its conclusion -- and it ties together a lot of threads showing that this was more than just a crossover stunt. There was a build-up we didn't see, there are lessons learned, and there's a new depth to the DC-CW universe that didn't exist before.

When we left off, Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL) and his non-metahuman allies had just been rescued from alien pursuit by Nate Heywood (NICK ZANO) piloting the Waverider timeship, as the Dominator mothership was on a course for Earth with a nearly completed weapon.

As I close in on 40, I have discovered that I am starting to become a cranky old man.  When it comes to social media, I don’t wander too far out past Facebook or Twitter.  I don’t know the difference between Instagram, Vine, Snapchat, or Periscope.  And for the most part, I am fine with that.  

The world lost a fine entertainer when Bob Hope died. I grew up watching him go "on the road" with Bing Crosby and perform in his many other comedy films. But Bob was more than just that. His numerous trips overseas, sacrificing time with his family to entertain U.S. troops, made him a national treasure.

We may have lost Bob, but thanks to DVDs like this one, we'll never lose Hope.

HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS collects two of Hope's more memorable television holiday specials -- BOB HOPE'S BAG FULL OF CHRISTMAS MEMORIES (1993) and THE COMEDY HOUR (1950).

The INVASION of the CW Supershows continues with this week's installment of ARROW.

When we left all of our heroes at the end of THE FLASH, Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL), White Canary (CAITY LOTZ), Spartan (DAVID RAMSEY), Speedy (WILLA HOLLAND) and The Atom (BRANDON ROUTH) were all teleported away from the fight, leaving Flash (GRANT GUSTIN) behind.

From that point we are immediately taken to the Queen Estate, where we see Oliver and Thea meeting with none other than their parents, Moira (SUSANNA THOMPSON) and Robert (JAMEY SHERIDAN). And if you are thinking to yourself, "Wait, they're both dead," you're right. That's because Oliver and his teammates are trapped in...

It is oft said that the third time is a charm...and I can think of no better example of that phrase than this current release from Time Life. Pressed on limited edition white-and-black swirled vinyl, this third installment of the Time Life series of the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME LIVE hits on all cylinders for me.

With a veritable “Who’s Who” of performers featuring the likes of Carl Perkins, Eric Clapton, The Allman Bros, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Traffic, Keith Richards, Paul Butterfield, Robbie Robertson, and John Mellencamp, what’s not to love? Add to that no sign of Bruce Springsteen anywhere in sight, and it’s a huge win-win proposition!

Tis the season for cosplay! Don't believe us? Visit any of your local department stores and take a look. There'll be elves all over the place, not to mention a saint! And just because they're not carrying bows, arrows and swords doesn't mean they're engaging in any less respected version of cosplay. Heck, they're even getting paid for it, so that's something to aspire to!

To round out the year, we wanted to set up a bombshell who would truly blow you away -- someone who would explode off your screen. And we believe we've found just the one to make the end of the year pop!

I think I have a new favorite Middle Grade series!

THE BAD GUYS by Aaron Blabey is just so FUN! In this new middle grade graphic novel series (I read the original BAD GUYS and the second installment, MISSION UNPLUCKABLE), Mr. Wolf sets out to show once and for all that he is NOT a bad guy! Along with three other antiheroes – Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, and Mr. Shark, they set out to prove that they’re more than their stereotypes. Starting “The Good Guys’ Club,” these four friends set out to rescue a cat from a tree and spring some dogs loose from the pound (I mean, if Mr. Snake can stop trying to eat Mr. Piranha).

The beginning of the highly touted 4 episode crossover on The CW, SUPERGIRL still has some important ends to tie up on her Earth, before she can take flight and save another. While it takes a while to finally get to the actual crossover, there are hints of something coming scattered throughout the episode.

The episode starts off with Thanksgiving dinner at Kara's apartment and puts comaraderie and frienship on full display. The cast has developed amazing chemistry as their dymanic continues to evolve with one another. Alex, James and Winn all have something they want to share with Kara and their 'discussion' as to who will go first is how real life friends would hash it out. When Mon-El shows up for dinner, he continues to delight with his playful innocence as he struggles to grasp simple concepts such as 'bring the stuffing'.

When Disney/Pixar released the teaser for Cars 3, they clearly decided to go in a slightly different direction than the bubbly optimism from the first two movies…

I was pretty stunned watching it.  The teaser promises “From this moment, everything will change."  They sure weren't kidding. 

It's the crossover event we've been waiting for ever since SUPERGIRL found herself rocketed to the CW network. We saw the crossover begin, sort of, in Monday night's SUPERGIRL, although only with a hint at the beginning of the episode and then with the actual appearance of Barry Allen (GRANT GUSTIN) and Cisco Ramon (CARLOS VALDES) during the last three minutes.

That scene repeats itself later in THE FLASH as "Invasion!" gets fully underway, opening with Flash and Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL) under fire -- and attacked by heat vision!

Valiant send out a press release on Monday telling us "War is coming!" heralding the return of X-O MANOWAR in a new series debuting in March 2017.  They didn't tell us much else, just the very cool image above.  

Studio City, CA  – STAR TREK: DISCOVERY announces its first three cast members: Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp. As previously announced, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will premiere in May 2017 on CBS All Access, the CBS Television Network’s subscription video on-demand and live streaming service.
 
Doug Jones will star as “Lt. Saru,” a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species to the Star Trek universe.

Saw this on a few places the last two days, so felt it was worth reporting on.   

Marvel and Capcom characters will duke it out in a new crossover fighting game coming to consoles next year. Multiple sources tell Polygon that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is currently in development and slated for release sometime in 2017.

Although Capcom hasn’t officially announced the game, we’ve been told the company will unveil Marvel vs. Capcom 4 this week alongside Sony’s PlayStation Experience event where the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter 5 tournament will be held.
