Some assignments are too dangerous for the law. Some enemies are too powerful for ordinary men. And some heroes have to die before they can begin.
Critical Blast Publishing and Destroyer Books are proud to announce the release of THE DESTROYER, a massive new graphic novel adapting the novels that introduced Remo Williams and launched one of the longest-running action-adventure series in publishing history.
Created by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir, THE DESTROYER introduced readers to Newark police officer Remo Williams, a man framed for murder, sentenced to death and secretly recruited into CURE—an organization operating outside the normal boundaries of government and law. Under the merciless instruction of Master Chiun, the final living master of Sinanju, Remo is transformed into something faster, stronger and far more dangerous than the man he was permitted to be.
Adapted by R. J. Carter and George Peter Gatsis, the new graphic novel combines the formative events of CREATED, THE DESTROYER and THE DAY REMO DIED into a single, expansive visual narrative. The result is not simply another adventure starring Remo and Chiun, but the story of how Remo Williams was erased from the world—and how the Destroyer was created in his place.
The approximately 400-page black-and-white graphic novel is being released simultaneously in five physical formats:
• Prestige Hardcover — a premium 6-by-9-inch edition with dust jacket
• A4 Softcover — an oversized presentation showcasing the artwork at its largest
• Trade Paperback — a traditional 6-by-9-inch graphic-novel edition
• Digest Edition — a compact 5.5-by-8.25-inch format
• Pocketbook Homage — a 4.25-by-7-inch edition designed in tribute to the original Destroyer paperbacks
Each edition presents the complete graphic novel, allowing longtime Destroyer readers and new fans to select the format that best suits the way they collect and read.
The Pocketbook Homage holds a special place in the lineup. Its dimensions and cover treatment deliberately evoke the mass-market paperbacks through which generations of readers first discovered Remo, Chiun and the House of Sinanju. At the other end of the spectrum, the Prestige Hardcover gives the project the substantial archival treatment appropriate to this landmark adaptation.
All five editions can now be ordered through the Critical Blast Book Store. These links connect buyers directly with Ingram, the books’ distributor, allowing Critical Blast Publishing to offer special direct-order pricing below the regular retail prices. Because manufacturing costs can change, the live price for each edition is displayed on Ingram’s ordering page.
