SyFy has released a teaser trailer for their mid-season series KRYPTON and it's faster than a speeding bullet. You'll want to give this several viewings to take it all in.

Which, given the fact that its only 20 seconds long should be pretty easy. But we're here to break it down for you anyways.

The trailer starts off with the destruction of Krypton, going in reverse. You see a huge city landscape (Kandor?) and a ship flying towards its destination.

Someone gets rocked with a punch that's similar to MMA's 'Superman Punch', where the assailant jumps in the air and comes down with a massive blow to the head. Fitting.

Then we see Seg-El (Cameron Cuff) being sized up by Nyssa (Wallis Day), followed by a closeup of a larger version of the command key seen in 2013's Man of Steel.

Cut to a ship that appears to be under water which, if you recall, is where Kryptonians were harvested, before Jor-El's heretic act of naturally conceiving a child. Seg-El is seen running straight at one of these ships.

A reactor of some type looks like it overloads with energy and explodes, as three characters dive to the ground.

Then Seg-El looks to be clenching his fist as blood drips from it. The camera zooms in on the second most famous symbol in the world (behind the Holy Cross). The 'S' Shield. It is the crest for the House of El. And it stands for 'Hope'.

It fills the screen in all of its red and yellow glory.

The title screen shows Krypton against the backdrop of Rao. The name for the red supergiant sun that Krypton orbits.

The words: "Discover the Lineage of a Legend" are interspersed between cut scenes as you hear Seg-El's words:

"The blood, of House El, will always bind us together"

The special effects look very sharp in this teaser. While not being able to judge the final product yet, SyFy took great care in making sure nobody was talking about it. They certainly put a lot of effort into making sure everything looked authentic.

When your creating a science fiction drama that takes place on an entirely different planet, you really need to ramp up the effort to ensure the SFX aren't a distraction.

This certainly looks like a series that Superman fans will enjoy.

Synopsis - Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos
