Deadpool wins Best Film of 2016

2016 was a great year for movies if you're into geek culture. Superheroes seemed to dominate, with DOCTOR STRANGE, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, BATMAN V. SUPERMAN, and SUICIDE SQUAD. Not counting the Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, Disney also gave us animated greats like ZOOTOPIA and MOANA, and Harry Potter fans got another helping of J.K. Rowling's magical universe with FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM.

We also had entries from the less-super end of science fiction, with nominees ranging from ARRIVAL to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, and comedies like GHOSTBUSTERS.

None of them won over the majority of our readers, though, the way our Best Film of 2016 did.

So break out the chimichangas, folks! Because it's DEADPOOL's time to par-tay!

"DEADPOOL is so ridiculous, so over the top, so completely, well, Deadpool, that it may just be one of the top 5 comic book movies of all time," writes our own Jeff Ritter in his review. "Yeah, I went there. Suck it, Batfleck."

S.J. Mitchell writes in his review, "DEADPOOL won't try to force feed you a deep concept that leaves your head throbbing either. Instead it probes the annals of the genre in ways you never thought possible. It has the balls to try things you've never experienced in a superhero movie; even with high expectations you won't feel let down."

Congratulations to Director Tim Miller, actor Ryan Reynolds, and all the folks at FOX who let this happen.
