Knight Moves: Gotham Episode 414, "Reunion"

Gotham Reunion

It was a hot time in old Gotham last night, as multiple story threads just got a little more vicious.

First and foremost, Ivy Pepper (PEYTON LIST) has perfected her little killing plants, and sets her sights on the man who killed her father: Harvey Bullock (DONAL LOGUE). Combining the Lazarus Water stolen from the Wayne Foundation, the pollen from her newest blossoms kill within minutes, sprouting quickly from their victims and turning them into organic flower pots. And her next target is all the rich people at the Wayne Foundation charity fundraiser, including Bruce Wayne himself.

Knight Moves: Gotham Episode 413, "A Beautiful Darkness"

Gotham, A Beautiful Darkness

It's the episode of GOTHAM you've been waiting for -- not because of the return of Jerome (CAMERON MONAGHAN), not because ot the confrontation he has with Oswald (ROBIN LORD TAYLOR), and not even because Ivy (PEYTON LIST) is showing off just how much of a badass she is in this new incarnation (which only gets more dangerous as the episode draws to a close). No, it's because this is the episode where Bruce Wayne (DAVID MAZOUZ) finally gets sense beaten into him about what a dick he's been the last half-season.

Pep Talk: Riverdale Episode 214, "The Hills Have Eyes"

Riverdale - The Hills Have Eyes

We interrupt your 60 minute trailer for LOVE, SIMON, to give you a few tidbits about what's going on in RIVERDALE. That's how this episode often ran, as we were inundated with movie posters, plans to see the movie, dates made to see the movie, going to the movie, and for a bit even seeing the movie. And the point of promoting a movie about a gay teenager coming out to his parents? It allows us to focus more on Moose Mason (CODY KEARSLEY) and his closeted bisexuality and attraction to Kevin Keller (CASEY COTT). Moose has told Kevin that his girlfriend, Midge Klump (EMILIJA BARANAC), is aware of what he and Kevin have done and is totally open to that; but in later conversation with the three of them, it becomes clear to Kevin that Moose was lying.

Superman Anniversary - Action 1000

If there was ever a year to start (or get back into) reading Superman comic books, this is the year to do it. With Action Comics #1000 coming in May, I don't need to explain the importance of getting to your local comic book store and reserving a copy.

But I'm going to anyways.

SyFy's KRYPTON Taps Shakespeare for Romantic Sub-Plot

SyFy's upcoming series, KRYPTON, will feature a forbidden romance between an El and a Zod.

“Two households, both alike in dignity
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents' strife.”

Act 1, (Prologue): ROMEO AND JULIET, written by William Shakespeare

The Flash Episode 415 Enter Flashtime

Her team are robbing an A.R.G.U.S. shipment of nuclear fissionable material. As Jesse Quick (VIOLETT BEANE) is on hand visiting her father, she accompanies Flash to stop the heist.

Knight Moves: Gotham Episode 412, "Pieces of a Broken Mirror"

Gotham 412 - Pieces of a Broken Mirror

GOTHAM returns from hiatus, but doesn't really move its story forward all that much, as this season's overarching title is "A Dark Knight," which ostensibly means we're going to see more of Bruce Wayne (DAVID MAZOUZ) on the road to becoming Batman. And, indeed, early in the season we were seeing just that. But then he became a brat, which he remains to this point in the series, firing Alfred and living a life of drunken partying and debauchery.

Catching Up: The Flash Episode 414, "Subject 9"

Flash 414 Subject 9 - Izzy Bowin, The Fiddler

After a brief hiatus that felt like an eternity, THE FLASH is back, in an episode that is both good and still very critiquable.

Having realized that the body-hopping Devoe (now played by SUGAR LYN BEARD) is targeting all of the metahumans  created on the bus that got swamped by dark matter, Team Flash has created a "buddy system" to keep tabs on Ralph Dibny (HARTLEY SAWYER), aka The Elongated Man. But that still leaves them with four more metahumans to track down.

Kit Harington Selected as Best Series Actor for 2017

Kit Harington Best of 2017

The "Best Actor in a Series" category is probably one of the most hotly contested in this year's Best of 2017 awards. It's not just that there were so many nominees to choose from, but every one of them comes with a solid fan following, and the shows they appeared on represented a myriad of genres. Just about everyone on THE ORVILLE got at least one vote, attesting to the ardent following of that series. Also in the running were all the leads from the CW super-shows -- ARROW's Stephen Amell, THE FLASH's Grant Gustin, and SUPERGIRL's Melissa Benoist -- as well as comedies like YOUNG SHELDON's (Iain Armitage), medical dramas like THE GOOD DOCTOR (Freddie Highmore), and dystopian science fiction like THE HANDMAID'S TALE (Elisabeth Moss).

Readers Select Netflix Original's Stranger Things as Best Serial of 2017

Stranger Things

Probably harder to select than the Best Movie of 2017 is the Best Serial of 2017. Because let's face it -- not only do we watch a lot of shows on our devices, but there are so many new outlets creating original content. It's not like the old days of the early 21st century when your favorite shows were generated by a cable network (and don't even get me started on my antediluvian childhood woes of only having three broadcast networks to pick from, plus a UHF channel you could pick up if the weather was clear).

As a result, there were a ton of contenders vying for the spot of Best Serial of 2017. But in the end, there could be only one -- and it was a close shave! GAME OF THRONES put in a strong second place, taking 20 percent of the votes.
