Disney XD airing Ant-Man shorts

Disney XD put up 3 Ant-Man shorts on YouTube today.  There are apparently 6 total, and they will be airing on the network this weekend.

To be honest, I usualluy have a pretty low bar, but I thought the animation and voice work on these were a little annoying, but I do like that Scott Lang is getting more exposure.  Check them out below!

Major Spoilers for Batman #24

DC decided to do their best Marvel impression and gave US Today some major spoilers for tomorrow's Batman #24.

In the issue, Batman asks Catwoman to marry him!  They have been building up to this pretty much since the first issue of Catwoman in New-52.  No idea if Selina says yes, or where the story goes from there.  The Button hinted at the idea that Batman may consider hanging up the cape and cowl once and for all.  Comics love to sneak back to the status quo, but I would love to see us get a Modern Age Batman/Catwoman marriage.

Family Friendly Comic Convention Takes Flight with Debut of Kid-Kon

Kid-Kon 2017

Maybe you've been attending comic conventions for a few years now. If so, you've established your expectations of what you'll see there, the good, the bad, the ugly, and enticing.

But maybe you've been going long enough that you've mutated -- it sneaks up on you -- into those creatures know as parents. If so, you may find yourself visiting your familiar convention environs one summer with a younger human being in tow for the first time, and find yourself suddenly thinking differently about some of the revealing cosplay, the nude superheroine prints, and the bloody special effects makeup and masks. If you've encountered this uncomfortable feeling already, or if you're just lookign for something that will better engage your young offspring (of which it is your duty to raise properly in the ways of the Force, the Prime Directive, truth justice and the American way, and with great responsibility).

Canine Soldier Returns to Duty in Family Adventure MAX 2: WHITE HOUSE HERO

Max 2 - White House Hero

When we first met Max, he was washing out of the military with PTSD after having saved several lives in the Middle East. But with the help of the family of his former master, he pulled through and became a hero.

In MAX 2: WHITE HOUSE HERO, Max is called into duty with the Secret Service when the current canine member is on maternity leave. He quickly befriends TJ (ZANE AUSTIN), first son of President Bennett (RIVERDALE's LOCHLYN MUNRO). TJ has been feeling alienated by his status as a protected child, and Max is the only friend he has, much to the chagrin of his Secret Service detail handler, who would rather Max be focused on security.

New Line Theatre's SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS Is Disturbingly Brilliant

New Line Theater's SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS run Jun 1 - 24

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS is a musical by Marvin Hamlisch, Craig Camelia and John Guare based on the screenplay by Clifford Odets and Ernest Lehman about a post WWII celebrity gossip columnist, his seedy protégé and the muckraker’s strange relationship with his sister. It’s one of the more intricately structured plots you’ll see in a musical. Virtually no one is quite who you thought they were by the end of the show and that level of character depth is deeply satisfying. It’s also likely that you’ll squirm in your seat uncomfortably at times, because Zachary Allen Farmer, one of St. Louis’ best comedic actors, plays one hell of a rat bastard in this New Line Theatre production.

Stephen King and Richard Chizmar ask an interesting question with Gwendy's Button Box

"If you had a magic button that could kill anyone or destroy any place, would you use it?"

Whenever Stephen King has a new book out, it’s a pretty big deal for me.  Thanks to my mom, I have been a huge King fan since I was way too young to appreciate his books.  Not knowing much about Richard Chizmar, I was a little hesitant to pick this one up.  But, I have enjoyed King’s collaborations in the past with authors like Peter Straub, Stewart O'Nan, and Joe Hill. Besides, unlike some other authors (looking at you, James Patterson), King isn't inclined to just throw his name on a book.  If it says he co-wrote it, then he co-wrote it.

Marvel announces new Runaways series for September

Some awesome news coming from The House of Ideas this morning…

For most kids, finding out your folks belong to a world-dominating cabal of super villains would be about the craziest thing in the world—but they’re not the Runaways! Back in 2003, Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona introduced us to a book called RUNAWAYS and a cast of characters that we instantly fell in love with. The adventures of Nico, Karolina, Chase, Molly, Alex, and Gertrude grabbed a faithful fan following that led to a number of volumes as well as appearances in other books like AVENGERS ARENA and A-FORCE.

Wonder Woman Creates a Double Standard and Exposes Bias

WONDER WOMAN sent a flying knee kick to the box office this weekend as it shattered windows and expectations, charging towards a potential $100 million weekend.

As it continues to pull in rave reviews from nearly everyone there doesn't seem to be a lot of criticism about the influence this movie gets from its predecessor's. I'm speaking about MAN OF STEEL and BATMAN V SUPERMAN. Here is a quick rundown of what people were angered about in regards to those Zack Snyder directed movies:

June's Bombshell, Victoria Avalor, Embraces Her Inner Princess

photo credit: Victoria Avalor cosplay with Green House Photography

This month we bring to you a highly talented cosplayer whose charity work exemplify the love promoted by her favorite character, Wonder Woman. While we are fortunate to spotlight such a wonderful cosplayer during the release of Warner Bros WONDER WOMAN movie, it's important that we don't lose sight of the other princess she portrays.

Victoria Avalor's Princess Leia cosplay is a wonderful tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, who hopefully is smiling down on us from a galaxy far, far away.

Lambdin's MORBID HEARTS Fun, Well-Written Series-Starter

MORBID HEARTS is the first book in the Dead Hearts series of novels by Susan L. Lambdin. Having read the second book in the series first, you may be thinking to yourselves, “Why would you read the first book now?” Well, that is a fair question that I will answer like this: Knowing what happens in the sequel lets me look at the first novel in a different light than reading it first. I get to look at it from the perspective of: How well does the author set things up for the sequel? How well does she develop the characters personalities in the first book, and did they carry over into the second book so that they did not appear as different people?

That, to me, is a refreshing look when reading a series of novels that I don’t get when reading them in series order.

The Secret of the Dark Woods is Under Jeff's Nose -- or Up It!

Mountain Monsters Season 5 Finale

Once more, the A.I.M.S. team finds themselves up against weirdness in The Dark Forest. Buck is still hunting for the Little Girl, while the rest of the team has their own mystery to pick -- specifically the mystery of Jeff's nose and why it keeps bleeding so often.

Of course, whenever anything is encountered, these brave woodsmen, armed with their rifles and pistols and their cunning traps, respond with immediate flight. I can see running from a ten-foot Bigfoot -- but running from one woman, or even a group of other hunters?

I find myself wondering sometimes if the crew from MOUNTAIN MONSTERS ever goes hunting together -- traditional hunting, that is. Let's say, squirrel hunting:

Buck: We're here in the woods behind my house looking for gray squirrels. So far we've seen a ton of evidence that this place is the home to several of the creatures.

Gal Gadot Elevates WONDER WOMAN Above Zach Snyder's Touch

Starts June 2nd, 2017.

Gal Gadot wasn’t a household name in the United States, even after appearing in three THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS films. She will be now, as the eminently likable star of WONDER WOMAN and the first person to overcome the many deficiencies of Zach Snyder.
