CW Renews Arrowverse and Supernatural for 2017-2018. And Constantine returns! (in animated form)

I actually saw this first announced by Stephen Amell on his Facebook, but Hollywood Reporter better coverage:

Ahead of its day before press at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, The CW handed out early renewals to seven veteran series.

Returning for the 2017-18 broadcast season are all four DC Comics shows — The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow — as well as dramedies Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin, alongside its longest-running original, Supernatural.

Missing from the list are The 100, iZombie and The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, all of which have yet to debut their current seasons. (Reign will end with its upcoming fourth season and The Vampire Diaries also will sign off later this year.)

Voltron Season 2 Trailer Has Zarkon in Hot Pursuit!

If you're reading this, odds are you loved season one of Voltron on Netflix and you have been anxiously awaiting for more news. Entertainment Weekly has a great interview up for fans who want an inside look at what's in store for our Paladins in the second season.

When season one ended, our Paladin's were scattered throughout the galaxy, separated during their heroic escape from Zarkon's clutches. It was discovered that Zarkon was the original owner of the Black Lion and his connection with it still runs deep. So deep, in fact, that this season he appears hellbent on tracking down Voltron and reclaiming what was once his.

In the interview, executive producer Lauren Montgomery discusses Zarkon's renewed motivation:

You Won't Believe Superman's New Relationship Status!

When I saw this coming across the interwebs I couldn't believe it. It's been hinted at, over the years, within the panels of comics during the 'golden age' and even explored during the New 52. But now that's it's being done where tomorrow's generation of comic book readers will see it, the future looks bright for the 'power couple'!

Over the course of Superman's 75 plus years of existence, his relationship status has been relatively consistent; albeit with a few blips on the radar. Superman loves Lois Lane. It's been as consistent as his red underwear. Even though he's remained true to his heart, there have been several instances where it's implied he was attracted to Wonder Woman.

The debate of who Superman should be romantically involved with has become a hot topic ever since DC launched the "New 52".

Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete Second Season on DVD

Fear the Walking Dead S2

I was given a copy of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: The Complete Second Season to review. For those who aren’t familiar with the show, it’s a prequel to AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD and is supposed to give a view of the apocalypse in the beginning stages.

In season two, the cast moves from the hills of Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean, traveling along the coast in a yacht named The Abigail. The group discovers the water holds as much danger as land, as they meet new friends and new dangers--and even more dangerous foes.

Power Rangers: Ninja Steel debuts in January. Here's Everything We Know!

There hasn't been a lot of news for Power Rangers: Ninja Steel, even though the series debuts on Nickelodeon‎ next month.  But I decided to share what we know so far.

We did get a brief teaser after the Power Rangers: Dino Super Charge Christmas Special (and last episode).

The official description from the show makes it sound pretty quirky.  Power Rangers meets Reality TV?

History Notes: Legends of Tomorrow, Episode 208, "The Chicago Way"

As Martin Stein belabors keeping his time-aberration daughter a secret, Jefferson warns him it's only a matter of time before Sara or the Waverider's onboard computer Gideon notes the time aberration and warns them about it. Just then the klaxons go off indicating an aberration has been detected -- but to Stein's great relief the warning directs them to 1927 Chicago, where Al Capone's men are about to dispatch of a new-to-town G-man named Elliot Ness.

Catching Up: The Flash, Episode 309, "The Present"

Flash Episode 309, The Present

When Christmas is near, it's only natural that I want to hear a really exciting story about a man in a red suit who can travel the whole breadth of the world so quickly that he can do it all in a night.

Okay, so Barry Allen (GRANT GUSTIN) isn't sporting a white beard just yet, but we do get a somewhat grizzled Jay Garrick (JOHN WESLEY SHIPP) in this special Christmas episode that brings the mystery of Alchemy and Savitar to a head -- and sets the stage for an even more chilling storyline for the second half of this season!

SUPERGIRL NEWS: Mischief, Thy Name is Mister Mxyzptlk

Comicbook.com is reporting that Mr. Mxyzptlk will be appearing in the second half of this season's SUPERGIRL.

Once again The CW is introducing another one of Superman's classic villains to National City. In the comic books, Supergirl's gallery of villains was never really fleshed out very well. This is often referenced whenever she has a solo series; they often lack direction and a solid rogue's gallery.

History Notes: Legends of Tomorrow, Episode 207, "Invasion!"

Legends of Tomorrow Ep 207, Invasion!

Picking up where ARROW left off, "Invasion!" comes to its conclusion -- and it ties together a lot of threads showing that this was more than just a crossover stunt. There was a build-up we didn't see, there are lessons learned, and there's a new depth to the DC-CW universe that didn't exist before.

When we left off, Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL) and his non-metahuman allies had just been rescued from alien pursuit by Nate Heywood (NICK ZANO) piloting the Waverider timeship, as the Dominator mothership was on a course for Earth with a nearly completed weapon.

Nocking Point: Arrow, Episode 508, "Invasion!"

Arrow 508 Invasion!

The INVASION of the CW Supershows continues with this week's installment of ARROW.

When we left all of our heroes at the end of THE FLASH, Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL), White Canary (CAITY LOTZ), Spartan (DAVID RAMSEY), Speedy (WILLA HOLLAND) and The Atom (BRANDON ROUTH) were all teleported away from the fight, leaving Flash (GRANT GUSTIN) behind.

From that point we are immediately taken to the Queen Estate, where we see Oliver and Thea meeting with none other than their parents, Moira (SUSANNA THOMPSON) and Robert (JAMEY SHERIDAN). And if you are thinking to yourself, "Wait, they're both dead," you're right. That's because Oliver and his teammates are trapped in...

Taking Flight: SUPERGIRL ep 208 "Medusa"

The beginning of the highly touted 4 episode crossover on The CW, SUPERGIRL still has some important ends to tie up on her Earth, before she can take flight and save another. While it takes a while to finally get to the actual crossover, there are hints of something coming scattered throughout the episode.

The episode starts off with Thanksgiving dinner at Kara's apartment and puts comaraderie and frienship on full display. The cast has developed amazing chemistry as their dymanic continues to evolve with one another. Alex, James and Winn all have something they want to share with Kara and their 'discussion' as to who will go first is how real life friends would hash it out. When Mon-El shows up for dinner, he continues to delight with his playful innocence as he struggles to grasp simple concepts such as 'bring the stuffing'.

Catching Up: The Flash, Episode 308, "Invasion!"

Flash Episode 308, "Invasion!"

It's the crossover event we've been waiting for ever since SUPERGIRL found herself rocketed to the CW network. We saw the crossover begin, sort of, in Monday night's SUPERGIRL, although only with a hint at the beginning of the episode and then with the actual appearance of Barry Allen (GRANT GUSTIN) and Cisco Ramon (CARLOS VALDES) during the last three minutes.

That scene repeats itself later in THE FLASH as "Invasion!" gets fully underway, opening with Flash and Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL) under fire -- and attacked by heat vision!

Catching Up: The Flash, Episode 307, "Killer Frost"

The Flash 307 -- Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost

Before we pick up with last week's cliffhanger, I've got to say that Director Kevin Smith really knows how to get emotion out of his actors. This episode of THE FLASH blows away everything this season, not just because of story but because of the way the characters come across. More on that as we progress.

Legends of Tomorrow, Episode 206, "Outlaw Country"

Legends of Tomorrow - Jonah Hex

An errant time pirate in Liberty Colorado in 1874 results in future tracking technology falling into the hands of one Quentin Turnbull (JEFF FAHEY), allowing him not only to begin mining of a very rare mineral, but allows him to use that mineral to prevent westward expansion, effectively creating his own country.

Naturally, this causes a time aberration, which gets picked up by the device on the Waverider that Ray (BRANDON ROUTH) has lovingly named "the Trouble Alert," providing a distraction for Nate (NICK ZANO) who has been tasked with researching the connection between the amulets the team has prevented from falling into the hands of Damien Darhk -- items that, according to all the records, shouldn't exist.

Nocking Point: Arrow, Episode 507, "Vigilante"

Arrow Episode 507, Vigilante

There's a new vigilante in Star City, and he plays for keeps, dropping off bodies at the local police station and marking them with a 'V'. This is the Vigilante I've been waiting for this season, and I am curious as to how the writers are going to handle him. After all, he kills and the Green Arrow (STEPHEN AMELL) doesn't. Anymore. He's really sorry about those past murders he committed as The Hood and later The Arrow, but he's making up for it now without serving any time.

Catching Up: The Flash, Episode 306, "Shade"

The Flash Episode 306, "Shade"

While there was certainly a bad guy to be caught in THE FLASH last night, there wasn't much focus put on him. In fact, once apprehended, Shade (MIKE MCLEOD) didn't even get a speaking part, let alone an origin story.

The story instead focused more on the changing dynamics within Team Flash, such as the secret Caitlin (DANIELLE PANABAKER) is keeping regarding her developing cold powers, and the dreams Wally (KEIYNAN LONSDALE) is having about being Kid Flash.

Taking Flight: SUPERGIRL 206 "Changing"

This week's episode of SUPERGIRL explores a very deep topic about discovering the truth behind feelings that were purposely suppressed out of fear. Also, an energy sucking parasite.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

We start off with a team of scientists doing work on climate change when they discover a dead wolf with an unusual lesion. As it's investigated a parasitic creature infects the lead scientist. The DEO finds him alive and after some questioning, Hank reluctantly lets him go to continue his research.

It isn't long until we discover that the parasite is slowly taking over.
